// Fact-checking & research — est. 2024
stet is a research and fact-checking practice built on journalism — serving newsrooms, film and TV productions, and executive teams who can't afford to be wrong.
stet was founded on a simple premise: the same rigorous verification standards that govern great journalism should be available to every organization that communicates publicly. We bring newsroom discipline to every project we touch.
Newsroom roots. Research come from editorial backgrounds — trained to verify before publishing, not after.
The approach changes. The standard doesn't. Journalism, film & TV, and the boardroom each demand something different. The rigour never wavers.
Primary source only. We don't cite aggregators. Every claim traces back to an original, verifiable source — documented and delivered with your report.
No AI shortcuts. Verification requires human judgment. Our work is done by experienced researchers, not language models.
stet works where accuracy isn't optional — where a wrong statistic, a misattributed quote, or an unverified claim carries real reputational, legal, or financial consequences.
Pre-publication fact-checking and source verification for newsrooms, editors, and independent journalists. We work to your deadline — not ours.
Script accuracy, technical consulting, historical research, and legal clearance for productions of all sizes — from independent documentaries to network series.
Stat verification, citation sourcing, and competitive benchmarking for board decks, investor materials, earnings calls, and keynote presentations.
Step 01
Send your draft, script, deck, or brief through our intake form. We'll scope the project and confirm timeline within 4 business hours.
Step 02
Scope and contract confirmed. Timeline locked, details agreed, and we're ready to get to work.
Step 03
Every claim is traced to a primary source. Flags, corrections, and citations are documented inline, with full source links and confidence ratings.
Step 04
Your annotated report is delivered to deadline. Follow-up questions are included at no extra charge for 5 business days after delivery.
So much of what a great fact-checker does goes unseen: calling organizations to grab new data, contacting publications to confirm information, reaching out directly to sources to make sure what we're reporting is accurate and fair. stet does all of this without being prompted. stet doesn't wait to be told what needs verifying — stet initiates conversations with experts, tracks down primary sources, and consistently holds our work to a high standard. More importantly, stet helps us reach it.

Bill and stet aided me with a complex, long-form story for The Guardian by working with a researcher at the UK's Centre for Information Resilience. He helped sort through captured Russian documents tied to suspected war crimes, including attendance books, vehicle logs, and medical staff lists, connecting names, unit numbers, and painted vehicle codes to identify specific soldiers and units, work that fed directly into my reporting on accountability for atrocities in Ukraine.

Writing for film means embellishing, that's the job. But every embellishment needs a grounding point, something real underneath it the audience can feel even if they can't name it. stet dug into the actual mechanics of cargo shipping for my script: how the vessels operate, the crews, the routes, the regulations, the unglamorous details that make the world believable. I could take creative liberties with confidence because I knew exactly where the line was.
